Oil filter working process and replacement cycle

When the car is repaired, the oil filter is often unscrewed and replaced together with the oil. So how often should this oil filter be replaced? What is the service life and replacement cycle?

Before that, let's first understand the oil filter. At present, the oil filters on the market are all spin-on oil filters. The round iron box contains folded filter paper, which is the core material of mechanical filtration. Xinhang's filter paper has been heat-cured and has a certain hardness and strength, and can withstand oil pressure without deformation.

The filter is screwed into the middle part of the oil circuit, with the oil pan at the bottom and the engine at the top. Its main function is to filter impurities and dirt in the oil, provide clean lubricating oil for the engine, reduce wear and extend the life of the engine.

The process of the oil filter:

The oil in the pan flows into the filter from the oil inlet check valve. The dirty oil flowing in is at the edge of the filter, on the outside of the filter paper, and then filtered by the filter paper. The clean oil flows out from the center of the filter to various parts of the engine.

In order to ensure that the amount of oil flowing into the engine maintains the oil pressure, the bypass valve at the bottom of the oil filter will automatically open, allowing the unfiltered oil to flow out and mix with the oil in the center of the filter and flow into the engine. At this time, the mixed oil contains impurities.

How long can the oil filter be used?

The service life of the filter is mainly determined by its filtering capacity, and the quality of the filter itself is determined. If there are too many oil impurities and grease, they will adhere to the filter paper, block the filter holes, and cause the oil pressure to become low, so that the impurity oil enters the engine. In this case, the filter element should be replaced.
