Air filters are used to filter small particles in the air entering the cylinder to reduce the wear of the cylinder, piston and piston ring. Among the three media required for the engine to work, air has the largest amount. If the air filter cannot effectively filter the suspended particles in the air, it will accelerate the wear of the cylinder, piston and piston ring. In severe cases, it may even cause the cylinder to be strained and shorten the service life of the engine.
Air filters should not be pursued blindly for cheapness
Air filters should not only be cheap, not for quality, and fake and inferior products should not be used. Choose carefully to prevent abnormalities after the engine turns well.
Air filters should not be disassembled at will during use
Air filters need to be used with scientific basis. Do not disassemble them at will to let the engine directly inhale unfiltered air to work. After the truck air filter is disassembled, the wear of the engine cylinder will increase dramatically, the wear of the piston will increase by about 3 times, and the wear of the piston ring will increase by about 9 times.
Air filters maintenance and replacement should be practical
Although the mileage and working time of the air filter are specified as maintenance and replacement data, for cars, the maintenance and replacement cycle of the air filter is sufficient and can be appropriately extended.
In addition, in actual work, you cannot wait until the mileage reaches the standard and the engine works abnormally before repairing, which will not only cause irreparable damage but also cause great harm.
Identification of air filter
In theory, the service life and maintenance cycle of the air filter should be measured by the ratio of the gas flow through the filter element to the gas flow required by the engine. When the flow is greater than the flow, the filter works normally; when the flow is equal to the flow, the filter should be maintained; when the flow is less than the flow, the filter can no longer be used, otherwise the working conditions of the engine will deteriorate. The situation is getting worse and worse, and it may even fail to work.
In practice, when the air filter element is clogged with suspended particles and cannot meet the airflow required by the engine, the engine working state will be abnormal (roaring, insufficient intake volume, insufficient cylinder pressure, too rich mixture and incomplete combustion, etc.). In this case, it can be judged that the air filter is clogged, and the filter element should be removed in time for maintenance and replacement.
When maintaining the air filter, pay attention to the color changes of the inner and outer surfaces of the filter. After dust removal, the outer surface of the filter paper is clear and the inner surface is bright, and the filter can continue to be used. If the outer surface of the filter paper loses its original color and the inner surface becomes dark, it needs to be replaced.
